Our 2014 precious moments washi tape Christmas tree on the wall

Our Christmas tree this year is simple, space-saving, cheep (5 Еuros to develop the photos) and soooo lovable!

The best thing you could do with a toddler at home is to have the Christmas tree on the wall.

I’ve recently become a great fan of washi tape. Also, I just wanted to do something very special with the thousands photos I took this year. It was a very eventful year for our family indeed!

So it just came naturally… a photo collection washi tape Christmas tree on the wall!

Making of the Christmas tree:

1. Stick 10 washi tape lines on the wall – 15 cm apart in height, bottom one – 140 cm long, each one after – 10-20 cm shorter than the previous:

2. Put up the ornaments – they just consist of our most precious moments from 2014: about sixty 10×15 and 10×10 photos.

Thanks go to Tonita for capturing lots of those moments. Love goes to all the people on the tree!

DIY doily cushions

i had a few doilies left from my wedding Cheiz (a selection of textiles and other from grannie) and thought I’d put them into good use. got mum to help me with the sewing machine and turned them into lovely cushions for my pallet couch.

another DIY doily project was my headboard panel.

DIY – how to fix a torn paper lantern

damage done, you’ve pinched a hole into the lantern (or torn it in half in my case (:).

no worries. all you need to fix it is: tissue paper, glue (C200 or other), paint brush and some patience.

step 1. tear the tissue paper into pieces of different sizes but no bigger than your palm and no smaller than a post stamp.

step 2. glue the paper over the damaged bit using a paint brush. in my case I had no parts of the lantern missing, so I had to put the two torn ends together and glue the paper over them to hold them together.

step 3. use a pinch or a clip to hold the two torn ends together until the glue dries out.

you may want to put extra paper layers here and there for additional strength.

voila!

can you tell where it was torn? ((:

DIY couch from wooden pallets

pallets have become very popular for DIY projects. you can find many many things made out of them – mostly furniture. i can’t say which one inspired my couch, but it’s come out different from any I’ve seen on the web.

so here’s what I did:

got 4 wooden pallets from a local warehouse

sanded them smooth

and painted them white (got my husband to paint them, actually).

for the top I got these two jolly guys to make me some old-school Bulgarian mattresses (called Dyushek).

(photo is linked to some info in Bulgarian about Vanyusha.)

and here’s what came out of it:

my summer harvest in a frame

my summer harvest went on the wall last night. I placed a capsule of lavender and a cluster of wheat in an old frame I took from Gran.

“… for a good seed, brings good fruit.”

inspired by Mark 4:20 “Those which were sown on the good ground are those who hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, some thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times.” (World English Bible)

now, I have to say I didn’t produce the lavender non the wheat, I gathered both from along the road. yet I don’t consider them stolen because I didn’t keep them for myself, I shared them with you!
